About the artist:
Suzanne Schmollgruber served from 1988 to 1992 an apprenticeship as a handcraft bookbinder in Lausanne and Sion. She then spent a year at the Centro del bel libro in Ascona for further training and returned on several occasions the following years. In Ascona, she trained with Edwin Heim, as well as with Sün Evrard, Hedi Kyle, Jean-Luc Honegger, Peter Aegerter, and Carmencho Arregui. From 1993 to 1996, she worked with Rolf Bommer and at the Papiermühle Basel. In 1996, she opened an own bookbinding workshop in Barcelona, where she worked until 2005, taking part in exhibitions and teaching at various schools throughout Spain.
Subsequently, she ran a bookbinding workshop in Milan from 2005 to 2010. During this time, she also taught at various locations throughout Europe. From 2010 until the end of 2022, Suzanne Schmollgruber was head of the Centro del bel libro.
She is an active member of the Swiss bookbinders’ association buchundform.
