Design idea: The pattern of individual colourful diamonds, like paper kites floating freely and endlessly towards the sky, symbolises the poems in the book, which have finally been allowed to be written freely in Estonia since 1992.

About the artist: After her apprenticeship at the bindery Jacob Kohnert in Berlin, Ingela Dierick studied at and graduated from Guildford College in England with a diploma in Fine Binding and Paper Conservation. Subsequently, she went on a two-year traditional journey and received her master’s certificate in Bremen in 2000. She then worked as a craftswoman demonstrating bookbinding at an open-air museum and as a course instructor for further training in several places in Europe. Since 2004, she has been running her workshop for bookbinding and art of bookbinding in Plombières in Belgium. She works as a lecturer at various schools, including the Centro del bel libro in Ascona, the design school ecosign in Cologne, the Buchbinder Colleg Stuttgart and the Genks Academie voor Beeldende Kunst & Media in Belgium.

Ingela Dierick regularly and with great success takes part in international bookbinding competitions and participates in exhibitions. From 2018 to 2024, she has been President of the International Association of the Masters of the Art of Bookbinding (MDE).
