Full leather binding Red and blue Oasis goatskin; gold-tooled title on smooth spine; leathers separated by a band of white leather of irregular width, running over the spine and both cover boards to the inside until the joint, gold- and blind-tooled lines accompany and cross the band; gauffered gilt head edge, sewn endbands; doublures and flyleaves hand-made marbled paper in red and blue. Pull-off case edged with red and blue leather and covered with marbled paper.

Note: Peter Aegerter won the gold medal at the 1987 MfB competition with this binding.

About the artist: Peter Aegerter grew up in Gstaad and served an apprenticeship as a handcraft bookbinder at Schumacher AG in Bern from 1961 on. Later he worked in Geneva, Aarau and Bern, and, from 1970, for Bosshard in Langnau. He received his master’s certificate in 1973, followed by further training courses at the Centro del bel libro in Ascona. Apart from expanding his own skills and knowledge, Peter Aegerter was also committed to supporting young professionals, gave preparatory courses for the examination for the master’s certificate and worked as an examiner. He is the author of the highly acclaimed specialized folder on work techniques and processes, Arbeitstechniken und Arbeitsabläufe.

Aegerter won three gold medals in the international bookbinding competition for the Prix Paul Bonet in 1992. He took part in numerous fairs and museum exhibitions and was a founding member of the group buchundform in 1993. In 1994, he started his studio in Langnau im Emmental, which he passed on to his former apprentice Andrea Neuenschwander in 2012. Since then, he has pursued his hobbies: travelling, hiking, biking, photography and design.
