Full French binding Green morocco leather, decoration on front and back covers as well as on the spine, with multicoloured leather overlays in red, light green, white and black. Gold title on spine, fine gold line on standing edge, three-sided gold edging, hand-engraved red headband; dark green leather mirror bord à bord, light yellow silk endpapers. Very fine signature and date on inside covers. Pages 2 and 3 laminated with fantasy Kromecote paper, on page 3 ex-libris label made of leather with genuine gold embossing ‘Robert Moureau’. Half-leather chemise with leather edge and Kromecote cover, lined with Moleton. Simple leather-bound slipcase covered with Kromecote.

L'Imposteur by Marcel Jouhandeau is a novel that deals with themes such as identity, faith and the search for truth. The story follows a protagonist who moves in a world full of illusions and false values. Jouhandeau explores the tensions between personal conviction and social norms while reflecting on the role of the individual in a changing world.

About the artist: Micheline de Bellefroid was a Belgian bookbinder and binding artist, known for her modern and innovative cover designs. She studied at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and specialized in cover design. Her works are characterized by precision craftsmanship and creative combinations of materials and have been presented in numerous international exhibitions. For twenty years, she ran the bookbinding workshop at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre in Brussels. She developed Kromekote paper, a new technique for decorating paper.

Micheline de Bellefroid shaped profoundly the art of bookbinding in the 20th century, and her work continues to influence bookbinders and artists worldwide until today. Her partner was Robert Moreau, being also one of her best customers. She was good friends with Mechthild Lobisch.
