Full French binding Light green goatskin leather, covering the entire surface, including the spine, printed with red, blue and green shapes and dots and complemented by very fine, wavy lines in gold, red and black. Sturdy covers, tapered towards the edges. Gold title on the spine. Wide leather headband in gold, heavily chased gilt top edge. Bord-à-bord mirror, printed with dark blue vertical, conical and wide stripes as well as fine blue line patterns. Flying endpaper with greenish handmade paper. Folding case covered with black Arbelav, box parts with purple fabric. Lined with wine-red suede.

About the artist: Tom McEwan completed his studies in sculpture at the Glasgow School of Art in 1980. He began training as a bookbinder at the Glasgow College of Building and Printing in 2004 and became a Licentiate of the Designer Bookbinders in 2010. In the subsequent years, he enjoyed a series of competition successes, including awards from the National Library of Scotland, the Society of Bookbinders and the Designer Bookbinders.

McEwan founded his bookbinding studio in Irvine, Ayrshire, in 2013. There, he designs and crafts fine bindings for clients. He also produces small print runs and boxes for books. He teaches bookbinding in his studio, where regular workshops for all levels are held throughout the year. Tom McEwan also visits local groups, universities, colleges, and art schools to give introductory courses, lectures, and demonstrations on bookbinding. He is renowned for his craftsmanship and for his unique book designs. He is Fellow of the Designer Bookbinders since 2014.
