The publisher has endeavoured to give the selected figure poems an appropriate artistic framework. The chosen book format, the type area, the content paper, as well as the typesetting and printing should reflect the true beauty of Baroque figurative poetry. Each baroque figure poem, together with the explanatory illustrated text, forms a double page.

About the artist: Mechthild Lobisch belonged to a circle of people who were deeply engaged in contemporary binding techniques and design. Being a trained bookbinder herself, she has spent a lifetime advocating with great passion and dedication for the craftsmanship and formal quality in bookbinding. Her work was esteemed by the majority, especially as she was professor at the Burg Giebichenstein, University of Art and Design Halle, where she was head of the class Konzeptkunst Buch (Book as Conceptual Art) within the Art Faculty from 1995 to 2006. A group of her graduates has had a lasting influence on the German art of bookbinding ever since. Mechthild Lobisch died in autumn 2025.
