About the artist: Monique Lallier was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1941. She began her training in Montreal at the Cotnoir Cappone School of Fashion & L’Art de la Reliure bookbinding school. For further training, she worked in Paris with Roger Arnoult, as well as with Hugo Peller in Solothurn and Edwin Heim at the Centro del bel libro in Ascona (both in Switzerland). She later was director of the American Academy of Bookbinding in Telluride, Colorado, and president of the AQR, the Association des relieurs du Québec. Monique Lallier has been running her artisan bookbinding business for many years, first in Sommerfield, North Carolina, later in Greensboro, New York, and she is a recognized binding artist. She also teaches at various schools and gives courses in her studio.
