Markus Raetz: The books
Three volumes in cassette. Numbered and signed edition of 600 copies of this one without number
Staehli Gallery and Edition, Zurich 1975 Raetz (1941-2000) was one of the most renowned contemporary Swiss artists. In his works, executed with a wide variety of materials and media, he focussed on the phenomena of perception. His focus was not on what was depicted, but on the way it was received. He often invited the viewer to interact.
About the artist: François Bernaschina grew up in Geneva, where he served an apprenticeship as a handcraft bookbinder at Reliure Wermeille. This was followed by five fruitful years as a creative bookbinder at Bubu AG in Mönchaltorf, paused for a year gathering experience in Boston, USA. In the 1980s, he successfully took part in several professional competitions. After a number of non-professional activities in Romandy, the French-speaking part of Switzerland, including teaching at the vocational school in Lausanne, he began studying psychology at the University of Geneva, which he completed in 2003 with a doctorate. From 2004 to 2006, he was responsible for internet communication at Compusoft SA, and since 2007, he has been a partner at the Francfort communications agency in Lausanne."
