About the artist: Annie Boige grew up in a book-loving family with an impressive library. In her spare time, she attended bookbinding courses, which whetted her appetite for further study, until she finally decided to choose bookbinding as her profession. She attended the École Estienne for two years and the Atelier d'Art appliqué du Vésinet for three years. In 1985, she set up her own binding workshop in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, then moved her workshop to Villennes-sur-Seine in 1995.

Her bindings, which she calls ‘tuile’ (bricks), have a uniform structure and deliberately make no reference to illustrations in the content. She is a founding member of the International Association of Bookbinders (AIR neuf) and Vice-President of the Association for the Promotion of the Art of Binding (APAR).
