About the artist: The book artist Rita Lass was born in Berlin and works in Halle (Saale). She crafts fine bindings and decorated papers, as well as artist’s books and prints. After finishing secondary education, an apprenticeship in bookbinding and a detour into book restoration, she studied from 2003 to 2010 at the Burg Giebichenstein, University of Art and Design Halle, in the fine bookbinding class “Konzeptkunst Buch” with Professor Mechthild Lobisch and, after Lobisch’s retirement, Professor Sabine Golde. In 2011, she founded her studio in Halle (Saale). She organized and curated exhibitions and art projects for many years, actively participates in exhibitions, fairs and competitions, and teaches at several educational institutions.

Since 2020, she has been running the studio “Goldene Esel” (Golden Donkeys) together with Annette Friedrich.
