About the artist: Henri Blanchetière (1856–1920) was a French bookbinder and artist known for his high-quality fine bindings. He was born in Paris and developed an interest in fine bindings at an early age. In 1906, he took over the bookbinding workshop of his mother-in-law, J. Bretault. Blanchetière was a master of his craft, combining traditional techniques with innovative designs, which earned him recognition in the bookbinding world. He was also a member of the Société des Amis du Livre, an association dedicated to promoting the art of bookbinding. His work is characterized by fine materials and ornate decorations. Blanchetière left a significant legacy in the world of bookbinding and is valued for his contributions to aesthetics and craftsmanship.
