Cécile Reims: Anatomies Végétales

This art book deals with the representation and interpretation of plant forms. In this work, Cécile Reims combines her precise technique with her interest in nature and plants. Studies show how organic structures are examined and depicted. The plant forms are presented in a way that emphasises both their biological details and their aesthetic beauty. The engravings are meticulous and delicate, and the depictions give the plants an almost human or living appearance.

About the artist: Julie Auzillon was born in the Paris region. She belongs to a new generation of artisans between tradition and innovation. After graduating from the prestigious École Estienne in 2003, she initially worked with artists and luxury brands before opening her own studio in Paris in 2013. Today, she often works for institutions, bookshops and bibliophiles who give her free rein. Her current studio, also known as “laboratory”, is located in the remote commune Geishouse in the Vosges mountains. Her work is characterised by constant research and development of new binding techniques. One of her specialities is the titanium rod binding, a technique that allows the book to open perfectly and whose visible hinge rod represents a graphic element in its own right.
